PRAY!

Prayer for the canonisation of Blessed John Henry Cardinal Newman

God our Father, you granted to your servant Blessed John Henry Newman wonderful gifts of nature and of grace, that he should be a spiritual light in the darkness of this world, an eloquent herald of the Gospel, and a devoted servant of the one Church of Christ.
With confidence in his heavenly intercession, we make the following petition: [here make your petition]
For his insight into the mysteries of the kingdom, his zealous defence of the teachings of the Church, and his priestly love for each of your children, we pray that he may soon be numbered among the Saints. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

I (your name), give and consecrate to the Sacred Heart of our Lord Jesus Christ, my person, my life, my actions, my pains and sufferings, so that I may be unwilling to make use of any part of my being save to honour, love, and glorify the Sacred Heart. It is my unchanging intention to be all His and to do all for love of Him. I renounce at the same time with all my heart whatever can displease Him.
I, therefore, take You, O Sacred Heart, for the only object of my love, the protector of my life, the pledge of my salvation, the remedy of my weakness and inconstancy, the atonement for the faults of my life, and the secure refuge at the hour of my death.
Be then, O Heart of goodness, my justification before God the Father, and turn away from me the punishment of His just anger. O Heart of love, I put my confidence in You (Thee), because I fear everything from my own sinfulness and weakness. I hope for all things from Your mercy and generosity.
Destroy in me all that can displease or resist Your (Thine) holy Will. Let Your (Thy) pure love impress You (Thee) so deeply upon my heart that I may never forget You (Thee) or be separated from You (Thee). May my name, by your(thy) loving kindness, be written In You (Thee), because in You(Thee) I desire to place all my happiness and all my glory in living and dying in very bondage to you(Thee)

This is an act of consecration to the Sacred Heart, written by St Mary Margaret Alacoque. Being it the month of May, and being that the Sacred Heart is everywhere and that it is the adorable Heart of Christ the King, our blessed and beloved Saviour, it is only proper and an expression of our love to consecrate our entire being to the Sacred Heart.

Pray for the Pope!

A prayer for our Pope, Francis.

V. Oremus pro Pontifice nostro Franciscus. V. Let us pray for Francis, our Pope.
R. Dominus conservet eum, et vivificet eum, et beatum faciat eum in terra, et non tradat eum in animam inimicorum eius. [Ps 40:3] R. May the Lord preserve him, and give him life, and make him blessed upon the earth, and deliver him not up to the will of his enemies. [Ps 40:3]
Pater Noster, Ave Maria. Our Father, Hail Mary.
Deus, omnium fidelium pastor et rector, famulum tuum N., quem pastorem Ecclesiae tuae praeesse voluisti, propitius respice: da ei, quaesumus, verbo et exemplo, quibus praeest, proficere: ut ad vitam, una cum grege sibi credito, perveniat sempiternam. Per Christum, Dominum nostrum. Amen. O God, Shepherd and Ruler of all Thy faithful people, look mercifully upon Thy servant N, whom Thou hast chosen as shepherd to preside over Thy Church. Grant him, we beseech Thee, that by his word and example, he may edify those over whom he hath charge, so that together with the flock committed to him, may he attain everlasting life. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

I have decided for the good of myself and the blog, that I won't be reporting very much on news items, but rather devotional, spiritual, and papal things which can enlighten us and inspire our souls. Big items yes, but the wee ones and inbetween, no. This blog started out to (help in just a small way) to combat the liturgical abuses that were taking place in Europe and North America, and has only expanded to what it is now.

God Bless you once again for your loyal readership.

Habemus Papam

Well what a grand few weeks it's been. This is my first time sat at a real computer since the election of our Holy Father, Pope Francis. Let me tell you about my reaction when I saw him walk out to bless the faithful, after that glorious "HABEMUS PAPAM".

Before I do I will tell you that I'm never using my mobile to post a blog post again, because they never come out. I had a HABEMUS PAPAM post, which never did publish, so that ruins everything.

The day, March 13th, I was home and I switched back and forth between BBC, EWTN and Salt and Light. I settled on one of them and then I just waited, and there was black smoke. I went downstairs to do something, and it was only by chance that I came up and then looked at the TV and OH MY GOODNESS! WHITE SMOKE! So I sat down and waited. I started to get impatient, and I was trying to figure out who would walk out. Cardinal Ouelette? Cardinal Turkson? The Cardinal Dean? I had no clue at all. Then when the moment came, and Cardinal Bergoglio came out, and the first thing I though of was how remarkably similar he looked to Pope Pius XII. Anyhow, I almost thought I heard wrong when they said he chose the name Francis. Something different, but by now I can tell it's a fitting name for him. I am in no place to judge the Holy Father, and I am content.

I wasn't online very much that day, but I did go on later that night and I read about everyone's opinions on Pope Francis. My heart sank. Never in my life have I seen such hatred from so-called "charitable" people, towards a bishop let alone the POPE. Of course I could be wrong in my judgement, for I was only reading what was behind a computer screen, but come on. Get real. I can understand being upset over not wearing a mozzetta, I can understand being upset over his choice of vestments, but he is the Pope and the Pope is the Pope is the Pope.

The successor of St Peter is the Vicar of Christ, and our Earthly shepherd to guide us and lead us. It is for that reason we must pray for him, and love him as loyal and obedient Catholics do. The media was upset because the Pope was Catholics. Those on the far, extremist right were upset because he wasn't conservative enough and those on the left were upset because he was too conservative. Catholics, however, must rejoice and celebrate a new Pope.

Today is Palm Sunday, it the glorious start to the Holy Week, the most glorious yet sorrowful and joyful time in the life of the Church of Christ. Please, in your sacrifices and rosaries, remember our Holy Father and ask God to watch over him and to ask the Blessed Virgin to protect him.
I had the "unfortune" of being ill and unable to go to Mass to get my Palm, so please pray for me. Remember our privilege of being members of the mystical body of Christ, and remember it is our duty to inform the uninformed and to instruct the misguided and ignorant.  Go to confession, have your sins forgiven, and go to the most Holy Sacrifice of the Mass to receive under our unworthy roofs, Our Lord and Saviour who willingly gives himself to us.

Ask the saints, especially St Joseph whose month this is, to pray for all those who are sick and poor, and to pray for the Pope. Ite ad Ioseph.

Remember to honour the Sorrowful Mother of God, especially this week as we commemorate the passion of the Lord. She who watched Her Son, our Saviour, bleed and be scourged then die on the most holy Cross. Mary most Holy, Thrice Admirable Mother, Pray for Us and let thine Immaculate Heart be our Salvation!

Thinking about adoption?

Looks like I'm a hipster. I adopted my Cardinal before it was cool, and my hipster hips are too hip for hippie hipsters.

I'm not revealing who I was graced with, but I heartedly recommend you to go on over the the Adopt a Cardinal project and adopt your Cardinal!!! The Church needs prayers, especially those electing the next Holy Father!

What education is coming to

Here's a little story for you today. A grade 8 boy in British Columbia was sent home with pornography.
Apparently, the wee book he was given was entitled "Put on Something Sexy", contained the image of a woman putting a condom on a nude man. (from the Yahoo post below)
I was physically nauseous when I saw what they had given to him,” mother Cathy Sanders told CTV News.

The boy's father, Clay Sanders, said the flipbook was "cartoon pornography."
“I don’t think any depictions of sexual activity are necessary to pass on to children in school,” he told CTV News.
Officials of the Nanaimo-Ladysmith school district quickly apologized, sending a letter to parents of students who'd attended the session. Spokeswoman Donna Reimer said AIDS Vancouver Island had provided the booklet, which had not been approved beforehand.
That's all I shall grace my blog with, for what it contains is ridiculous for an 11 or 12 year old to view. Here is the full article. LET ME WARN YOU THAT IT SHOWS A PREVIEW OF THE PICTURE.

Schools have truly taken out literature and replaced it with impurity and condoms.

This is an example of where the "anti-Aids" campaign has done nothing more than promote smut and pollution to our children's minds. Of course, in this modern world with media flying at us in every direction it is hard for a child to escape the likes of this, however, this was voluntary and there was intent. This promotes an excuse to engage in pre-marital acts, which is a sin and disgustingly immoral behaviour. Please pray for the people who handed out this booklet and pray for the students of the school in which it was distributed.

Novena for the Pope

The SSPX has published a 2-page pdf containing a Novena for the election of the next Pope. While we pray for the full regularisation and full communion of the SSPX, this Novena is a worthy cause and I think we should all participate.
Here is the link: PDF Main article at DICI: DICI

My full thanks to Fr Tim Finigan, at the Hermeneutic of Continuity for bringing my attention to this worthy effort of asking God and praying for the next holy Pontiff.
